Enemies on Tap (A Sweet Salvation Novel)

Brewing up trouble one pint at a time.

Enemies ...After years away, Miranda Sweet returns to Salvation, Virginia to save her family's brewery, but her fate is in the hands of her lover-turned-enemy, Logan. What's a girl to do when the only person who can help her is the man who betrayed her?

Lovers ...Logan Martin can't believe his luck when the woman who smashed his heart to smithereens walks into his bank asking for his help. What she doesn't know is that he needs the land her brewery is on--and he'll do whatever it takes to get it.

An Irresistible Combination ...Their wager becomes a battle between their attraction and their determination to win. But it's in each other's arms that they realize there might be more at stake now than their bet. With the town against the Sweet Salvation Brewery's success, Logan has to choose between what's expected of him and what he really wants.

This is my first Avery Flynn novel, and it is a safe bet to say it will not be my last. (Especially when it comes to Salvation! Gotta love them Sweet Triplets!) I stumbled upon Avery while participating in an online release party. Her talent with creating stories like this one was a SWEET discovery. (Pun intended!!!)

Miranda Sweet comes from the small town of Salvation where Ruby Sue's pecan pie and the hatred between the Martin's and Sweet's are Salvation staples in life. Miranda and her 2 sisters left town with the intention of never returning. The last name of Sweet held a stigma none of the Sweet girls wanted. After the passing of their Uncle Julian, they were the not so proud owners of 'Sweet Salvation Brewery.' When she finds that Logan still lived in town she decided, "Pretty blondes in poorly made horror movies had better odds of survival than Miranda."

Avery couldn't have penned it better when she penned this gem to give you a better idea of the tension between the Sweet's and Martin's: "West Virginia had the Hatfields and the McCoys. Shakespeare had the Capulets and the Montagues. Salvation had the Martins and the Sweets." In order for Miranda to turn the brewery around and be able to return to her life OUTSIDE of Salvation, she needed Logan's help. Logan wasn't the helpful kind. (No Martin was!)
"You're a pompous ass and a double-dealing scoundrel."
"Such flattery." He pressed his palms to his cheeks. "I do believe I'm blushing"
Truces are a funny thing. Logan and Miranda had so much going on with their day-to-day, they find comfort in spending time together during their truces. When the truce was done, they were back to fighting.
"Swords of dueling pistols in the morning?"
She knew it and he knew it. Their roles in the ongoing Salvation drama were set, and they had no choice but to play the parts assigned.
"Swords, of course."
We all know I am a sucker for small town novels. I love the characters. Ruby Sue and her pecan pie was my favorite. Her words of wisdom shined throughout this story.
"Look." Ruby Sue poked him in the arm with a surprisingly strong jab. "If an old lady knows anything, it's that fate loves to spit in the eye of idiots who think they have everything figured out."
Stubborn is the single word to describe these two! And I wouldn't have had it any other way. Suddenly, Salvation started to feel like home. Being a Sweet was something she became proud of, and nobody was going to stop her. They may try to shut the brewery down, but they won't run this Sweet out of Salvation. "She hadn't just drunk the Salvation Kool-Aid - she'd started to brew her own."

I just adored this story of second chances at first love, family pride, a strong sense of community and good beer! The HEA was perfect and pairs nicely with a brew named, "One Sweet Proposal!"

"This isn't just an itch we're trying to scratch, Sweetling."...
"It's not about our families or this shortsighted town."...
"This is about you and me."...
"Us."

Now let's show Avery Flynn some SWEET SWEET Love!
